Today, Igbo leaders, groups, governors will gather to deliberate on Biafra agitations - EVENTS NEWS OTHERS

Biafra! To be or not to be– will be deliberated upon when Igbo stakeholders converge in Enugu on Sunday, November 23, to discuss on the way forward.

South-East governors, Igbo leaders and groups are expected to take a stand on the ongoing protests and agitation for the creation of the Biafra state.

The detention of Nnamdi Kanu, Radio Biafra director and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, appears to have added fuel to the fire of the yearn for secession.

Consequently, in the past few weeks, members and supporters of IPOB and a faction of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have been protesting in several cities of the South-East and South-South.

To nip in the bud the protests which may soon escalate into something more serious, South-East governors had met on November 17 and called for an emergency meeting, slated for today.

The governors’ memo, signed by Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, had said: In furtherance to this, the South-east governors scheduled an emergency meeting of stakeholders on Sunday Nov. 22, 2015 at Enugu.

Attendance at the emergency meeting will include all National Assembly members, ministers from the zone and other invited stakeholders from the zone.”

Those expected to be present at today’s meeting include Igbo stakeholders such as; Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, traditional rulers, development unions, the clergy and possibly, the protesting groups.
